Throwing a Harry Potter Inspired Baby Shower

When my pregnant sister told me she wanted to have a Harry Potter inspired baby shower, I was excited! I am not huge HP fan myself, but I love planning parties around a theme (especially a unique one)! I was excited with how it turned out!

Lets start with the guest of honor, my sister Tonya! Doesn’t she look great?!?!

As always, I started my party planning by creating a Pinterest board! Not surprisingly, Harry Potter has not been the inspiration for a lot of baby showers. However, I was able to find a few to pull some ideas from!

Follow Ready, Set, Parenthood!’s board Harry Potter Baby Shower on Pinterest.
Invitations
I had just received Photoshop Elements for Christmas, so I was so excited to begin designing invitations and party decorations on my own! These invitations were the first thing I designed!

Decorations
I was able to pull a lot of the elements from the Harry Potter books and movies to pull into the decorating for the party.
HP decorations 1
One of my favorite decorations was a lot a gift to Tonya, which was a collection of Harry Potter themed onesies. I was able to design and print these on my own using t-shirt transfers and an iron.

For the guest book, we had friends and family sign a copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Callie’s very first Harry Potter book!

I included a lot of other Harry Potter touches, such as a customer banner and artwork, balloons, and HP books!

Food
We enjoyed a lot of delicious appetizers and snacks. Some had a Harry Potter twist, like our Wizard Wands (pretzel rods) and Golden Snitch (key lime cheese ball), while others were just regular party food.
HP Food 1
Our featured beverage was Butter Beer. I never got a chance to try it because it went fast! For the main course, we enjoyed a variety of baked pasta dishes and salad.
HP Food2
For dessert, we enjoyed Butter Beer and Red Velvet cupcakes, plus these fun Harry Potter tie cookies that also served as the guest favors.

Party Fun
We shared the party fun on Instagram by creating our own hashtag!

    Amazing baby shower!
Just wondering where you got the templates for the Harry Potter onesies? I’m looking to do the same thing but I’m having trouble finding them. Thanks :)

A gift list for guests is a great idea because parents-to-be really do know what they’d like for their baby and it makes it much easier to know the gifts received won’t be wasted.” However, if you feel uncomfortable making a gift list, leave the invite open. :)

Do you have a PDF of your invitation? My mom and I are hosting a HP baby shower for my sister and love the format of your invitation. Thanks!
