It’s time to brush off the dust on my Chromebook, because we are BACK for 2017! Time to share a little recap of our 2016, and what you can expect to see in the new year!
I would like to say we are back and better than ever here on the blog, however all I can say is that we are back. Not saying that WE aren’t better than ever, but the blog will be little more low key this year. Life has gotten a little crazy, even for us. I got away from blogging entirely in 2016. I’m making it one of my resolutions this year, but only expect to hear from me a couple of times a week. We will be focusing on sharing our family experiences, as well as tips and tricks we have learned along the way.
I don’t know about you, but we were sure happy to see 2016 come to an end. On top of all of the political craziness, our home was also dealing with it’s fair share of crazy this year.
Another year came and gone without growing our family (at least in the typical way, but more about that later). We are now on to over 2.5 years of trying to get pregnant with our second child. 2016 started off with another visit to the fertility doctor and a plan, but then my body decided it had other ideas. We are discouraged, but still trying (see resolutions below).
It was also another year of crazy health in our family and extended family. Dave had seizure (a side effect of his brain tumor) the weekend after Thanksgiving. His health is fine and the tumor remains unchanged, but he has driving restrictions for several months. That has been a bit crazy. My father-in-law had a heart attach and multiple operations. My own father continues to battle health issues. It seemed like every other week someone new was in the hospital this year!
One of the biggest changes for us this year was having our family grow with the addition of my 5 year-old nephew, Nicholas. My sister and brother-in-law have struggled with drug-addiction for years. This past year, they began the process of recovery. Having their son come to live with us, and their younger son with another sister of mine, has allowed them to focus on their own recovery. It hasn’t always been easy, but we have enjoyed having Nicholas with us. Patrick is really loving it! He is a very bright, caring, and fun little guy. Making the jump from 1 to 2 kids overnight was quite an experience, even though we have been planning on having 2 kids for a while now. We are glad that we are in a position where we can welcome him in our home at a time when our family needs help. Drug addiction truly does affect the entire family, not just the addicts.
We have had some bright moments this year as well. Adding Nicholas was definitely a bright moment. Patrick’s speech delay has continue to improve through speech therapy. Both boys started new schools this year and love them. We were able to take 2 vacations this year! The Cavs won a championship and the Indians were in the World Series! We have had a lot of family fun and have made some great memories too!
Bring on 2017!
So we are back for 2017, and are ready to make this our year! I have set resolutions for this year (very similar to this time last year). Here is hoping I do better with them than last year! I have been using my Happy Planner like crazy to make my goals visual every day!
What resolutions did you make for this year? Hope your 2017 is off to a great start!
